BUILDING PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY

"Today's leaders must be willing to take on the job of driving fear out of the organization to create the conditions for learning, innovation and growth."

Amy Edmondson - The Fearless Organization:
Creating Psychological Safety in the Workplace for Learning, Innovation and Growth

WHAT IS PSYCHOLOGICAL SAFETY?

A psychologically safe workplace is one in which employees feel free to contribute ideas, share information, ask questions, and report mistakes. It is an environment in which employees have the confidence to disagree and do so in order for learning to happen.

Psychologically safe organisations encourage candour and yield high employee engagement, collaboration and disciplined risk-taking. Psychologically safe organisations are therefore smarter because they not only spot mistakes, they learn from their mistakes.

Psychologically safe organisations also celebrate diversity and foster inclusivity and equity by creating space for everyone to participate, learn and grow.
